Whitefield firefighters assist West Pelzer FD with residential structure fire
Tanker 22 responded to Whippoorwill Lane to assist West Pelzer FD with a residential structure fire on December 2. More information is available here.
Tanker 22 arrives!
The Whitefield FD took delivery of its new 2000 gallon tanker on November 19. Firefighters trained on the new piece of equipment and put it into service on November 20. The department was awarded a $190,000 grant from the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters grant program in May. Click here for more photos.
Whitefield and Broadway firefighters extinguish house fire on Griffin Rd
Whitefield and Broadway firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on November 18. Firefighters were able to make an interior attack and quickly bring the fire under control. A small dog that apparently sought shelter under the smoke filled crawlspace of the home was rescued by firefighters. Belton EMS administered oxygen to the dog and turned it over to its owner. The fire was determined to be caused by an unattended candle.
Firefighters extricate victim from auto accident
Whitefield firefighters responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident on November 6, at the intersection of Hwy 29 N and Welcome Rd. Firefighters extricated the driver of a vehicle that was lying on its side. The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries by Williamston and Pelzer EMS.
Update: Residential Structure Fire on H.I. Taylor Rd
Whitefield and Cheddar firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire on October 2. The fire, on H.I. Taylor Rd, was brought under control in about 20 minutes. No one was at home at the time of the fire, and the cause is under investigation. Two firefighters were treated at the scene for burns.
Anderson Hwy Auto Accident
On October 10, Engine 22 and Rescue 22 responded to a three-car auto accident on Anderson Hwy at Elrod Dr. Firefighters assisted with packaging and loading three patients onto waiting ambulances.
Fall softball season comes to an end for Whitefield firefighters
Whitefield firefighters played their last game of the 2010 softball season September 29 at the Anderson Sports Complex. The team participated in eleven regular season games, and was unsuccessful in making it to the second round in the tournament.
