Pallet Fire at Former Mill Site

On October 12, Whitefield firefighters assisted West Pelzer FD with a pallet fire at a former mill. Firefighters from West Pelzer, Whitefield, Williamston, Powdersville and Cheddar worked for several hours to bring the fire under control.

Responding Units: Engine 6, Engine 6-1, Rescue 6, Tanker 6, Grass 6, Ladder 7, Engine 12, Rescue 12, Tanker 12, Engine 22, Engine 22-1, Williamston Engine 1 and Williamston Truck 4.

Structure Fire Assist – Coker Circle

On June 15, Whitefield and Cheddar Fire Departments were dispatched for a structure fire on Coker Circle in Belton. Firefighters found a single-wide mobile home engulfed in flames upon arrival. The fire took about 15 minutes to bring under control.

Responding units: Engine 12-1, Engine 22, Engine 12, Tanker 22, Rescue 22, Tanker 12 and Rescue 12, Williamston EMS

Motor Vehicle Accident – Willingham Rd

On February 23, Whitefield firefighters were dispatched to a single-car accident on Willingham Rd. While enroute, dispatchers advised that bystanders were attempting CPR on the vehicle’s occupant. Whitefield firefighters and Williamston EMS arrived simultaneously and immediately began providing patient care. The patient was transported to a local hospital.

Commercial Structure Fire – Williamston Road

On January 28, Whitefield and Anderson City Fire Departments assisted Broadway Fire Department with a fire at a vacant commercial building on Williamston Rd. Engine 22-1 supplied Ladder 28 with a 1000 foot lay of five inch hose, while firefighters assisted with extinguishing the fire. Firefighters encountered extremely cold weather conditions along with snow and ice. Anderson County Emergency Services provided a heating station for staging personnel.

Grass Fire – Rogers Rd

On January 20, Whitefield firefighters along with crews from Piercetown and Wren Fire Departments assisted West Pelzer Fire Department with a 10 acre grass fire on Rogers Rd. High winds and low humidity contributed to the spread of a nearby brush pile fire.

House Fire – P & N Court

On December 23, Broadway and Whitefield firefighters were dispatched to P & N Court for a residential structure fire. The vacant home was fully engulfed in flames upon arrival and completely destroyed in the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
