Mulch Fire – Amity Rd (click for more photos)

On September 25, Whitefield firefighters assisted Broadway Fire Department with a large mulch fire on Amity Rd. Tankers from Rock Springs, Starr, Broadway, Centerville, Center Rock, Cheddar, Piercetown, Whitefield and Ebenzer fire departments shuttled over 800,000 gallons of water from hydrants over a half mile away to help contain the fire to the mulch pile. Other units from Homeland Park, West Pelzer and Hopewell fire departments assisted with fill sites and handling other calls while firefighters fought the blaze. We appreciate the support of the American Red Cross, Anderson County Technical Services and MedShore for rehab and air conditioning for the duration of the fire.

Responding fire units: Tanker 1, Tanker 4, Engine 8, Engine 8-1, Grass 8, Tanker 8, Truck 8, Tanker 9, Tanker 11, Tanker 12, Service 12, Tanker 13, Brush 22, Truck 20, Engine 22, Fireground Support Unit 22, Tanker 22,  Tanker 23.
